Red Dead Redemption 2 rocked the gaming community in late 2018. As an amazing successor to Red Dead Redemption, it brings to life dreams of wild west debauchery and heroism. However, it also features a detailed and nuanced cooking system. Here is how to cook one specific, yet useful dish, the Red Dead Redemption 2 Flaky Fish.
How to Cook Red Dead Redemption 2 Flaky Fish
Fish is a delightful, light, and healthy meal. With variances from tuna to cod to tilapia, seafood dishes are present in plenty of modern-day cuisines. Of course, cowboys have always enjoyed casting their reel every now and again, but Red Dead Redemption 2 iconized this through the inclusion of fishing and cooking.
How does one cook the Red Dead Redemption 2 Flaky Fish though? First things first, there has to be a fish to cook. Players will need to find or unlock a fishing rod. Within the normal progression of the story, a fishing rod becomes available after completing the “Fisher of Men” quest. They can be found all throughout the map as well, scavengable from random encounters and the like.
Next, players will have to have their minds set on catching a large breed of fish. There are several different species of fish that can yield Flaky Fish once cooked. In the southern regions of the game, Redfin Pickerel is a prime choice. Throughout rivers all over, Perch is also a flakable fish. And of course, in the northern rivers and areas, the Northern Pike can yield Flaky Fish.
After finding a fish, players need to set up camp. Once a camp has been established, select the cooking mechanic through the in-game menus. Choose one of the larger fish varieties, and Flaky Fish should be a prepping option. Like many other foods within the game, Flaky Fish can be seasoned with either oregano, thyme, or wild mint, which provide stamina, dead eye, and health boosts respectively.
